General Dentistry

General dentistry involves the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide variety of dental conditions and diseases.
Key services for preventive treatment include:
Routine checkups and cleanings:
Regular exams and professional cleanings to prevent cavities, gum disease, and other oral health problems.
X-rays and diagnostics:
We use digital imaging tools to detect hidden issues such as decay, bone loss or impacted teeth.
Gum disease treatment:
Periodontal charting is completed once per year and with the digital x-rays we are able to diagnosis and know the type of cleaning a patient will be needed. The type of cleanings provided include: Prophylaxis (regular cleaning), gingival therapy, scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) and full mouth debridement.
Oral health education:
Guidance on brushing, flossing diet, and habits to maintain a heathy mouth and smile.
Dental sealants:
A dental sealant is a thin, protective coating applied to the groves and pits of chewing surfaces on back teeth (molars and premolars) that helps to prevent cavities. They are normally recommended for children and teenagers.
Night guard:
A night guard is a dental appliance worn over the teeth while sleeping. A night guard protects the teeth from grinding or clenching, a condition known as bruxism. It can also help relieve symptoms of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Night guards are usually made of a durable plastic and are custom-fitted to your teeth for comfort and effectiveness.
There are two main types:
- Custom-Fitted Night Guards: At Bridge Street Family Dental we take a mold of your teeth and fabricate a well fitted guard to protect your teeth.
- Over-the-Counter Night Guards: These guards are pre-made and adjustable, these are more affordable but may not fit perfectly.
