Clear Aligner Therapy

Clear aligner therapy is a modern, faster and more comfortable option for straightening teeth compared to braces. The therapy involves using a series of transparent medical-grade plastic trays (aligners) to gradually move teeth into their desired position.
The steps to straighten teeth:
Consultation:
Dr. Blessing will discuss your concerns and determine if clear aligners would be the best treatment option for you. X-rays, photos and digital scan will be taken to assess patients teeth and bite.
Treatment Plan:
Based on the information collected, Dr. Blessing will create a detailed treatment plan outlining the required tooth movements and the sequence of the aligners needed.
Aligner Fabrication and Delivery:
Once the treatment is approved, aligners are manufactured. The clear aligners are fabricated from a smooth, transparent, medical-grade plastic and are custom-fitted to cover snugly around your teeth. The aligners are designed to be invisible, offering an aesthetic alternative to traditional metal braces. Patients will receive aligners and wear them for 1-2 weeks.
Wearing Aligners:
Aligners are to be worn for 20-22 hours of the day. They will be removed when eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. When the aligners are on, they are applying a gentle pressure to your teeth, which gradually shifts them into the desired position. Each set of aligners is worn for about one to two weeks before changing to the next set.
Follow-up Appointments:
Regular follow-up appointments with Dr. Blessing are required to monitor your progress and ensure the aligners are fitting correctly. New aligners are delivered as needed.
Completion and Retention:
Once treatment is completed and the patient is happy with the desired position, a retainer is fabricated to maintain the new aligned teeth. This helps to prevent the teeth from shifting back.
The benefits of clear aligner therapy are aesthetics, comfort fewer food restrictions, easier oral hygiene and easy removal.
